Introduction to WW3000

  • The corresponding grade GK of WW3000 is Kindergarten, and G1 to G12 corresponds to the Primary 1 to the third grade of high school in the United States. This is a full set of all 13 grades, including Kindergarten level.
  • Wordly Wise 3000 is the set of most famous vocabulary grading books in the United States. An electronic online version is also available in the United States.
  • In the United States, especially in North America, the coverage of this set of books in schools is very high. It is also not an exaggeration to state that this is the No. 1 set of books in mainland Chinese circles.
  • In Singapore, every GEP teacher and local English teacher recommends this set of books to improve students’ vocabulary. Before it was made available in China, many mothers purchased this book via American channels. It is currently the number one English vocabulary book in Singapore.
  • In China’s first-tier cities, there are also international schools. The utilization rate of these books is also very high.

FAQs

Regarding the grading of this vocabulary system, G6 corresponds to P6 in the United States. However, for Singaporean students, it generally exceeds several grades.

Basically, regardless of whether your child is a Singaporean P2 student with outstanding results or a P6 student with relatively weaker vocabulary, this course will definitely enhance their vocabulary.

A video of the recorded lesson will be provided one week after the end of each class.

The teacher’s suggestion is to spend 15-20 minutes reading the vocabulary section before each class, so that it is best to know what you will be learning.

Since the lesson time of a class is limited to 90 minutes, the reading comprehension section will not be explained. Your English will show greater improvement should you finish the reading comprehension section after class.

The difficulty of the first round of GEP is similar to that of G6. Learning vocabulary is a long-term process of accumulation. Of course, there are many small skills that can be picked up in the learning process, such as the association of word roots, and the application of words based on the context.

The difficulty of the second round of GEP is relatively close to that of G8. However, according to the teacher’s experience in Singgapore’s third and fourth grades, if children can apply these G6 vocabulary in English writing, they can also produce an exemplary essay.

For children in the lower grades, it is good to be able to recognise and understand the meaning of vocabulary in the articles, while for children in the higher grades, it is recommended to be able to apply the words well.

Not all children will use the same set of vocabulary books as their main focus, and many children are used to accumulating vocabulary through a lot of reading. However, systematic and professional learning of vocabulary can quicken the process of improving reading and writing skills. It will greatly benefit PSLE candidates if they can master all the WW3000 words in the primary school stage. This course is very helpful for students taking the PSLE.
