Many children often lose marks in the examinations and fail to grasp the essentials of English reading comprehension cloze questions. The main reasons for the aforementioned are:
- Weak vocabulary
- Poor comprehension skills which leads to a low understanding of the passage

Our teachers will help students master reading skills and improve analytical reading skills through systematic learning and practices. Teacher Introduction
The teachers participating in this course are senior and experienced teachers who can effectively improve children’s English reading ability and enable students to master reading skills.
Teacher Eddie
Teacher Eddie has received education in Singapore since he was a child. He possesses a Bachelor’s degree from Monash University in Australia and a postgraduate diploma in education from the National Institute of Education in Singapore. He has worked as a secondary school English teacher with Singapore’s Ministry of Education for 11 years and is a very experienced teacher. His forte lies in English vocabulary, writing, English literature and drama.
Teacher Eddie is teaching reading and comprehension cloze for the P5 level. However, he would like to welcome P6 students to participate as well.
Teacher Karen
Armed with 8 years of teaching experience preparing students for AEIS and PSLE examinations, Teacher Karen is passionate about helping students overcome their fear of English and develop a love for it – *ultimately progressing from strength to strength*. Having taught in class, small group and one-to-one settings, Teacher Karen understands that English mastery – be it spoken or written – is underpinned by a robust foundation in the English language. Due to her love for children, she finds meaning in nurturing and building students up to realise their full potential. Every child is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching English. Hence, Teacher Karen is known for tailoring her lessons to best suit her students. Easy-going, compassionate and lively, she is well-liked by parents and students.
Teacher Ruby
Having grown up in the United States, Teacher Ruby graduated from California State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She has been teaching English in the United States, Taiwan, and Singapore for 25 years. Possessing a rich teaching experience, Teacher Ruby believes that the best academic performance is obtained through fun, relaxing and engaging sessions.
Teacher Ruby is teaching the P1 vocabulary and comprehension cloze class. K2 children with a relatively better command of the English language are welcome to participate.
Reference Books for P1 & P3
The Vocabulary MCQs Explained! and Conquer Comprehension Cloze Techniques books have been cherry-picked to be used in the P1 and P3 course. This Vocabulary book is widely used in Singapore by teachers to facilitate learning. In our course, the teacher will select some key vocabulary words and carry out an explanation session in class. The exercises in the book will have to be completed by the children at home, and the cloze passages will be extracted from the book.
P1 & P3 Curriculum Plan
P1
- 20 mins of vocabulary learning + 10 mins of learning and answering practice games
- 3 mins break in between (water break, bathroom break, eye relaxation time, etc)
- 20 mins of intensive reading and comprehension cloze passage
- 10 mins for Q&A interaction, etc
P3
- 30 mins of vocabulary learning + 15 mins of learning and answering practice games
- 3 mins break in between (water break, bathroom break, eye relaxation time, etc)
- 35 mins of intensive reading and comprehension cloze passage
- 10 mins for Q&A interaction, etc
P5 Curriculum Plan
As Teacher Eddie is taking WW3000 G6 and G11 courses, he believes that the level of vocabulary is similar. Therefore, Mr Eddie will explain three reading comprehension cloze passages in 90 minutes, namely the following three types: Grammar cloze, Editing cloze and Comprehension cloze.
Each cloze practice will take 30 minutes, and professional printed materials will be provided.
(Mr Eddie feels that the WW3000 course is very professional and recommends that students join that course as well to enhance their English language skills.)
